Well, the snow is melting, robins are appearing, my tulips are starting to push their way up through the winter's debris, and we have celebrated Easter, so Spring must be here! And with the coming of spring, brings the "busy season" for the PCCW! There are events happening on the Deanery level when the Deanery Council of Catholic Women will hold its Annual Spring Meeting on Monday, April 14 at Mary Mother of the Church Parish. On the Diocesan level, with the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women convention is in Eau Claire on April 18-19. At both of those events our parish Lady of Light, Jeanne Rady, will be honored. Jeanne has been chosen as the Deanery Lady of Light, also. She will be honored with the other Deanery Ladies of Light at the DCCW convention in Eau Claire on Friday evening, April 18. Jeanne is such a special lady and if you see her out and about, be sure to thank her for her work in the parish and the community. On the parish level, we will be hosting receptions for Confirmation and Scout Awards Sunday. We will also be involved in part of the preparation for our parish's 145th Anniversary celebration. On May 1, we will hold our Spring Pot Luck Meeting. Details are on the reverse side of this newsletter. As I said above, St. Joseph the Workman Parish is celebrating its 145th Anniversary on May 4-5. Our part of the festivities will be to decorate the tables for the steak dinner that will take place on Sunday, May 5. The Men's Club will be cooking, so all we need to do is decorate. The Spring meeting will also bring election of a new President and Vice-President of the PCCW. I will not be running for President for the next term, so this will be my last newsletter. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the other officers I have worked with for the past two years. They are amazing women! Their support has meant a great deal to me. I could always count on them to help when needed. I would also like to thank all of the wonderful women of the parish who work so hard and are dedicated to making St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral both a holy and viable parish. The women of the parish are involved in every aspect of parish life, from cleaning to cooking to Communion. If you step back and look at all of the activities, ministries, and work being done at a parish level, you will find women in every aspect of parish life (except the priesthood and diaconate!). Never forget, ladies, that we are a big part of the parish. I hope you have a Blessed Easter Season and a great summer. And I'll see you in church . . . Your sister in Christ, Sue Wiskow THANK YOU! A great big THANK YOU to the wonderful ladies of the parish who have been busy making prayer shawls. This is a wonderful ministry. The parishioners who have received the prayer shawls are very appreciative of them. Keep up the good work! There will always be a need for this ministry. |
