Highlights of the Saint Joseph the Workman Cathedral "A Landmark of Faith for 150 Years" Sesquicentennial Celebration
Our year of celebration begins with an Inaugural Mass, May 6, 2012 10:30 am.
Celebrant: Bishop William Patrick Callahan, OFM Conv.
There will be a Sesquicentennial Musical Debut composed by Dr. Brian Luckner. It will be heard only twice, on this day and at the year’s closing Mass in 2013.
Sharing our Celebration with our Community
Banners will be on the Main Street light posts May 2012 and May 2013. Light posts surrounding the Cathedral will carry the banners for the entire year of the celebration.
The Spire of the Cathedral will be lit for the celebratory year. This will enhance the edifice that has been “A Landmark of Faith for 150 Years”.
Sharing our Celebration with our brothers and sisters in the Deanery
Special deanery Masses will be held at points in the year. The faithful of the various deaneries will be invited to make a pilgrimage to the Cathedral, be given a tour and attend a special Mass.
Lasting Memorial Work will be restored
We will welcome back the Fourteen Holy Helpers. Rediscovered, these treasured pieces from the Old Cathedral will be permanently displayed in the current Cathedral.
Lasting Commemorative Works for your home will be available
A historical account will be put to print in a beautiful book filled with the remarkable story of the Cathedral and what it has meant to the faithful as well as to the community as a whole through the years.
A fascinating and informative DVD about the Cathedral’s beloved stained glass windows.
Works of art in the form of commemorative etched pieces suitable for home or office as well as an ornament are being produced.
A Celebratory Banquet will be held Spring 2013
